Class and Clinic Descriptions
Book Report Night
Who has time to read and decipher those great books on health and wellness? If you did read it, how would you know what parts of it were valid and which were suspect?
Each month I will be reading a book, recommended by my clients, and then presenting my “cliff notes” on it. This means that you get to understand the concepts and applications of the book without having to read and decipher it! Feel free to email me at Stacy@AmaTaraCenter.com and give me your book recommendations.
The first Book Report Night is on Tuesday, September 30th 4-5:30 pm. I will be presenting the concepts of acid and alkaline diets found in The pH Miracle Balance Your Diet, Reclaim Your Health by Dr. Robert Young and Shelley Redford Young. For the sake of science, I will also be following his diet recommendations for the month of September and sharing my findings with you.
On the back of his book he states: “Say good-bye to low energy, poor digestion, extra pounds, aches and pains, and disease. Say hello to renewed vigor, mental clarity, better overall health, and a lean, trim body. The key? Your health depends on the pH balance of its blood, striking the optimum 80/20 balance between an alkaline and acidic environment provided by eating certain foods. Now an innovative, proven effective diet program can work with your body chemistry and help revitalize and maintain your health.”
Those are a lot of fabulous claims. Com to Ama Tara on September 30th at 4 pm and hear about it!
“The Barefoot Doctor” Walk In Acupuncture Clinic
This clinic was created out of my desire to make alternative health care affordable to our whole island community. When you come to the clinic you sign in your name and the time. The sessions are first come, first serve. Everyone is welcome! Depending on the schedule and number of persons signed up, I may rotate my rounds between two or more clients at one time. Your session will be between 30 and 60 minutes long. If you have not filled out our client intake form, please plan on spending 15 minutes or so to do this before your session begins. The cost is just $25 per session. Right now I am offering this clinic 2 Friday’s per month. I may revise that to include more Fridays if it seems that it would serve you all better. If you would like to receive an email update of the clinic times and dates, you can sign up for our newsletter. (See the button on the right side of the page, or send me an email directly at Stacy@AmaTaraCenter.com). Send your friends!
Next clinic is on September 19th from 3:00-5:00 pm. See you there!
“Increasing Vitality with the Pranaprabhas”
The Pranaprabhas is a guided meditation passed on through the Sambodha teachings that brings your attention and focus to several powerful marma, (similar to acupuncture points) in your body. I will guide you on a journey through these points along the meridians of your body. There is a specific focus at each point that brings balance to its chi, or energy. While I have had quite profound experiences with this meditation, at the very least it will deeply relax you and balance your meridians, opening you to increased vitality and clarity. Class time is approximately 90 minutes.
Class times: Fridays September 5, 19, and 26 at 5:30 pm
Foundations for a Spiritual Practice Series
At one time or another in our lives most of us feel inspired to connect with a deeper part of ourselves, to culture our “spiritual” side, to find a sense of inner peace and maybe to connect with a community who is doing the same thing….. We may try one meditation or another for a while, with varying levels of “success”. Maybe it is difficult to focus our minds, or it is too hard to find the time to practice regularly, or we are not sure if we are doing it right.
When we want to improve our physical health we might talk to a nutritionist, or our acupuncturist or chiropractor to learn how to properly change our diets. Or we might begin an exercise program by taking a yoga class at Orcas Mandala, or pilates with Anne Marie, or begin walking with the Hardy Hikers. The point is, that when we decide to make changes in our lives we usually search out the people and resources necessary to help us be more successful in our efforts.
But where do we turn for support on our spiritual paths? In this Foundations for a Spiritual Practice Series we will be offering a series of classes that will bring together community and support to help each of us deepen our Self-awareness with the tools and awarenesses we need to develop and sustain a nourishing spiritual practice.
First class: “Culturing Mindfulness”
For many of us our minds carry us around from grocery lists to random memories… It can be difficult for many of us to quiet and focus our minds. Mindfulness brings one into the present. It allows a person to be present in a moment, but not to be carried away by the moment. In this class we will focus on exercises that bring us into the present moment physically and mentally. We will study and engage our minds in such a way that we build the mental “muscles” of Self-awareness. In culturing mindfulness we free ourselves to sink deeper into a quiet and relaxed inner peace.
A perfect class for beginning meditators, or those who think they cannot meditate, and those just wanting to strengthen their mental awareness.
Class times: Saturdays August 16, 23, 30 and September 6th at 4:30 pm.
